Provided that the course is not closed you can play any time that the tee is not reserved (for a competition or match).
In general,
However, for some major events, the course is reserved for the full day. The course is also booked for various other competitions and matches.
The Club Diary is a good source of information about these. Sometimes, however, changes need to be made to dates after the diary is printed, and you may find that the website is more up-to-date.
Another source of up-to-date information about forthcoming events is the whiteboard outside the shop.
.... and of course, you can always phone the Pro on 0161 428 9878.
TopAlthough the principles are the same, there are differences between the ways in which the Ladies and Gents do things
The basic principle is that the Handicap Secretary needs you to submit three cards - each of which must be signed by a player who already has a handicap.
On the Noticeboard outside the locker room is a list of members who are willing to mark cards for new members. Feel free to contact any of the people on the list. Each card may be marked by the same person or by different people.
In some circumstances, the Competition Secretary will allow a member who does not have a handicap to play in a Saturday Competition
Players without a handicap are not allowed to win a competition prize, but this can be a way of getting a card marked and of getting to know other members.
Please bear in mind that some types of competition (for example, when teams are involved) are not suitable for getting a card marked. Also, anyone playing in a competition needs to play to a reasonable standard and have good knowledge of the rules and etiquette of golf.
The Ladies Section require that at least one card must be signed by a member of the Ladies Committee
In the Ladies Locker Room is a list of Members who are willing to mark cards for Ladies who need a handicap. Feel free to contact any of the ladies on this list
TopNormally, to play in a competition you need a handicap.
Once you have a handicap, you can enter any of the competitions that you qualify for.
For example:
Any member can enter Mixed competitions
To enter a competition all you do is put your name in a vacant slot on the competition sheet that is displayed on the appropriate noticeboard. (If you are a relative beginner or have a fairly high handicap, it is worth checking the handicaps of the other people that you will be playing with. You will almost find that you will enjoy your golf better if you play with people with handicaps similar to your own).
Once you have entered a competition you should make sure that you arrive at the Club at least 15 minutes before your start time. This is to give you enough time to sign in, pay your entry fee, change shoes and mark up your card before you tee off.
If you are unable to play, you should remove your name from the competition sheet at the earliest opportunity (white stickers are usually pinned to the noticeboard to allow this). If last minute cancellation is unavoidable you should phone the professional to let him know - another member may be able to take your place.
TopThe best person to speak to about any problems or questions you may have will vary depending on the subject involved.
The Professional is the best person to speak to about Golfing matters.
The Secretary is the best starting point for things that relate to Cheadle Golf Club.
The Treasurer is the person to speak to about financial matters
However, all Committee Members are approachable and will be happy to do what they can to help.
Home phone numbers for all Club Members can be found in the Club Diary. Every Club Member is entitled to a copy of the Club Diary which are avaialble from the Secretary.
There are several different committees involved in various aspects of running the Club. The main ones are listed below.
